The Tulsa Blues Project and the Route 66 Harmonica Club is proud to present a very special US/Brazil Blues and Extravaganza featuring Little Joe McLerran and Brazilian harmonica master Flavio Guimaraes!! A special Brazilian style dinner will be prepared by celebrity chefs Little Joe and Flavio, as well as a harmonica workshop.
Little Joe Mclerran needs no introduction in Tulsa. In 2009, representing the Blues Society of Tulsa, Little Joe won the International Blues Challenge Solo/Duo competition hosted by the Blues Foundation and held each year in Memphis. In 2010 Little Joe teamed up with Jazz at Lincoln Center and joined the Rhythm Road taking a quartet featuring David Bernston on harmonica, Robbie Mack on bass and drummer Ron McRorey on a tour of the Middle East visiting Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Oman just weeks before the onset of the Arab Spring later that same year
Flávio Guimarães is a Brazilian composer, harmonica player and singer. Considered a blues pioneer in Brazil, he founded the band Blues Etílicos in 1986, which is considered the most successful Brazilian blues group. He has also played with many famous artists along his career, such as Alceu Valença, Ed Motta, Luiz Melodia, Paulo Moura, Zeca Baleiro, Buddy Guy, Charlie Musselwhite, Sugar Blue e Taj Mahal.
